
15th Anniversary of the Organization of Turkic States and “October 3 Turkic States Day” Celebrated
The 15th anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement, the founding document of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), was celebrated with a panel titled “Current State and Future Expectations of Turkic Cooperation” and a subsequent reception held at a hotel in Ankara on “October 3, Turkic States Cooperation Day.”
The reception, hosted by OTS Secretary General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, was attended by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz, GNAT Deputy Speaker Celal Adan, President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities Abdullah Eren, Kazakhstan Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev, Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Turkey Rashad Mammadov, Kyrgyzstan Deputy Foreign Minister Aybek Moldogaziev, Uzbekistan Deputy Foreign Minister Babur Usmanov, ambassadors of OTS member states in Ankara, OTS observer members, ambassadors of Hungary, Turkmenistan, and TRNC in Ankara, the Russian Federation’s Ambassador to Ankara, and numerous diplomatic mission representatives. TAİB was represented at the reception by its Board Chairman, businessman Elshan Guliyev.
In the speeches, attention was drawn to the importance of cooperation among Turkic states. It was noted that the economy formed by Turkic states holds a significant share in the world economy, and that these relations bring economic development.
Ambassador Ömüraliyev emphasized in his speech that over the past 15 years, OTS has developed political, economic, and sectoral partnerships and achieved a strong global position. He noted that OTS represents the Turkic world with 175 million people across 4 million square kilometers with a combined GDP of 1.9 trillion US dollars, representing the only multilateral cooperation platform. He added that Turkic states rank as the world’s 14th largest economy and third largest energy supplier.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, speaking after Ambassador Ömüraliyev, said: “OTS has played an important role in developing economic cooperation by promoting trade and investment among member states. Through various mechanisms established within OTS, we strengthen our fight against regional challenges and consolidate our solidarity for regional and international peace and security. In line with the Turkic World 2040 Vision, we are pleased to expand the scope of our multilateral cooperation each year. There is a long way ahead. In this period where we deeply feel the effects of global challenges, as Turkic states we must strengthen our solidarity and support each other in every field.”
Board Chairman and businessman Elshan Guliyev, who attended the event by special invitation representing TAİB, held various consultations with participants regarding TAİB’s contribution to the activities of the Organization of Turkic States, which was established 15 years ago by leaders who came together with a common vision to unite the Turkic world based on shared history, culture, and language, and which today has over 35 areas of cooperation in foreign policy, security, economy, education, transportation, energy, and more.
