Heydar Aliyev Commemorated with Respect in Istanbul on the 22nd Anniversary of His Passing

On December 12, 2025, Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, was commemorated at a ceremony held in Heydar Aliyev Park in Sarıyer, Istanbul, on the 22nd anniversary of his passing.

The commemoration program was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Istanbul and Sarıyer Municipality. Numerous protocol representatives, civil society organizations, and citizens participated in the event, along with the Turkey-Azerbaijan Business People Association (TAİB).

The ceremony began with the playing of the Azerbaijani and Turkish national anthems. Afterwards, the Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, H.E. Narmina Mustafayeva, and Mayor of Sarıyer, Mr. Oktay Aksu, delivered speeches.

In the speeches, the importance of the vision put forward by Heydar Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s independence, sovereignty, and development was emphasized once again.
The ceremony concluded with the laying of flowers at the monuments of Heydar Aliyev and Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.
