
International Conference on “New World Order: Geopolitical Aspects and Global Challenges” Held in Shusha. TAİB Board Chairman Attended as Special Guest of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
On June 15, 2025, an international conference titled “New World Order: Geopolitical Dimensions and Global Challenges” was held in Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. This important event, organized in honor of the 4th anniversary of the Shusha Declaration, which elevated Turkey-Azerbaijan relations to the level of strategic alliance, was hosted by the New Azerbaijan Party.
The conference began with a moment of silence in memory of National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of friendly nations. This was followed by the playing of the Azerbaijani National Anthem. A letter addressed to the conference participants by President of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliyev was read by Tahir Budagov, Executive Secretary of the NAP and Member of the Azerbaijani National Assembly.
The panel, moderated by AK Party Vice Chairman and Head of Foreign Relations Zafer Sırakaya, featured speakers including Ali Ahmedov, First Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, Daulet Keribek, Executive Secretary of Kazakhstan’s Amanat Party, Aktam Haitov, Leader of Uzbekistan’s Liberal Democratic Party, and Nemanja Starovic, Serbia’s Minister for European Integration.
Zafer Sırakaya noted the strategic importance of the Shusha Declaration for regional and global stability, security, and economic cooperation, emphasizing that Turkey has always stood by Azerbaijan’s just cause. He stated that the Second Karabakh War strengthened not only Azerbaijan’s security but also regional peace.
Ali Ahmedov, Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, emphasized in his speech that under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, Azerbaijan pursues determined policies against all threats and challenges, and prioritizes the lasting peace process with Armenia. The critical importance of the Zangezur corridor for regional connectivity was also highlighted.
Other topics addressed at the conference included the integration of the Turkic world, energy security, transportation corridors, and a more holistic vision for the future based on shared values.
The Turkey-Azerbaijan Business People Association (TAİB) participated as the only civil society organization invited to the conference attended by leaders and representatives of the ruling parties of member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States. TAİB was represented by its Board Chairman and businessman Elshan Guliyev. Since its founding, TAİB has aimed to be an active player not only in Azerbaijan and Turkey but across the entire Turkic world, contributing to the deepening of political, economic, social, and cultural relations among the members of the Organization of Turkic States. During the conference, the TAİB Chairman exchanged ideas on strengthening economic cooperation, increasing trade, and promoting investment relations among member and observer states, and assessed how to contribute effectively to this process.
